Yeah... that does suck... seeing as IRC can actually be used on an appropriatly configured Apple II... I can go on IRC with my IIgs and once I get an uthernet card in my IIe and write contiki to floppy I should be able to get it on IRC as well... as far as getting past ident... I have another computer on my network that handles all ident calls for any computers on my home network.
Most recently there is some new IIgs chat... but it requires software that appears to be windows only... so I can't even get into it on my Mac OS X machine. What's the point? You'd think people looking to talk about an old computer like the Apple II through IIgs would be concerned about their means of talking being at least a little more platform independant
