But the manual documents everything well except the switches! I've
never used a SSC, but from my understanding you want communications
mode. The jumper change is just an alternative to using a null modem
cable.

So the switches should be in comms mode:
1001111
(Switches 1-5 and 1-6 are both on for comms mode.)
