Floppies die easily if they were involved in my childhood. :-D  I've
lost several (through extreme usage, not storage), and have quite a few
that no longer work any more (and a handful that still do -- my dad
keeps his house at 68 degrees so that helps)  Though I have yet to try
your "Windex" recommendation.  I still prefer less volitile forms of
storage that are not as affected by sunlight, heat or oxidization.

Of course, there are several things that might have been the frequent
cause of observed disk failure... such as the computer desk was on the
other side of a thin wall from a washer and an electric dryer, high
amounts of dust and debris, and an enthusiastic kid willing to open and
tinker with things screwing up god knows what (oh wait... that was me)
 When a person is 12 they don't consider these possibilities.
