In 1983 the Apple IIe was released.  The following year the Apple IIc
was released that (among other things) featured an upgraded processor
(65c02 vs. 6502), mousetext characters and firmware fixes.  These new
features were made available to owners of Apple IIe's in March 1985
with the release of the Enhanced Apple IIe Upgrade Kit.  This 4 chip
kit included a 65c02 processor, a new character generation ROM that
included mousetext and two firmware ROMs that mostly included the bug
fixes.  These upgrades were included in all Apple IIe's from 1985 to
December 1993 when Apple finally discontinued the Apple IIe.
