I haven't run it in a while, but I wrote a complete TELNET BBS system
in VB.NET, specifically aimed towards Apple II users. I ran it for a
little while when I was living in Connecticut - called Apple.NET BBS..
Anyhow, I also wrote a full-screen multi-user chat system (using
VT-52/100 codes) that works pretty well. Now that I'm settled in a new
house in North Carolina, I think I'll get it running again. I have a
spare machine that monitors status emails from my other (real work)
applications, so I can just have it run on there. The BBS has an
automatic validation system via email that allows you to create and
activate an account in a matter of a couple minutes.
Last I worked on it, I was trying to implement ZModem transfer, so I
could put a bunch of Apple II files on there. Then Apple II folks
could conceivably upload and download files (through telnet on a unix
dialup machine, for example). I haven't gotten the ZModem transfer
working quite right, yet, though. I'll have to go back and work on it
some more; though I'm sure I can get an XModem transfer going in a day
or so.. but I'd like to get ZModem working.. it's much more
convenient!
