I would think so, too, because with video acceleration you can cope
with a slower CPU.
Example: The SNES had some advanced (for the time) video hardware and
though it had a slower CPU than the Sega Genesis (8 MHz 68000 + Z80(?)
for sound) it compared well.
Also there weren't *that* many experienced 65816-programmers out there
(compared to all the people striving to learn 68k) - so optimized code
wasn't that common compared to the availability of 6502-people.
RAM could also have been better. At least 512K for the price they
asked, IMHO.
