The floppydisk on the C64 was so horrible, nice graphics and sound didn't help, it was only a toy. I never even considered it, but then I'm a programmer, although I play games too.
My brother had one so I know the C64 fairly well (I have this machine now because he gave it to me and I collect computers, it's in storage).
I had a Video Genie (TRS-80 model I clone) and I envied a friend with an Apple II (back then 1981-ish). The Apple II was expensive and I was a student. Actually envied so much that last year I got myself a IIe.
I did stick to the Video Genie for 8 years, then bought a PC with SVGA for its graphic capabilities and also the 386 was fast enough to run MSDOS with a better speed than DOSPLUS on the Video Genie.
