I've never seen the Apple-made LCD (other than in photographs) so I've
nothing to compare with. I have heard the C-Vue was an improvement, but
considering how difficult it is to view, I can only imagine how much worse
the Apple original is.

The aspect ratio on the C-Vue is identical from what I can gather. Also,
like the Apple display, colors appear in dot and line patterns since neither
supports greyscales (the Apple has an inverse switch however, so it can
duplicate the look of a monochrome CRT--the C-Vue is stuck in reversed
video; or do I have that backward, I'd have to look again).

The only way to even SEE an image is with a strong external light source,
which has to be directly hitting the screen (direct sunlight works well). You
also have to tilt it at _just_ the right angle to see clearly too, which is
another problem. ASCII text looks quite nice on it, much better defined
than a Monitor II or even AppleColor RGB. Graphics looks terrible though.
I once mentioned that the original 1989 Gameboy had better visibility than
the C-Vue, if that tells you something.
