One Question remains, would the Universal Contoller be easier to clone than a Superdrive card? I'm talking about a quantity of one and wire-wrapping, not about a production run.
IWM chips should be not too hard to obtain from some old Mac corpse, right? Does the card contain other hard-to-get custom chips as well?
