Re: External CF Drive for your IDE contrllers
Hello again Rich.
Opps! just realized I had CFFA on the brain in that last post. I meant
Focus. I should also have be a little more clear in my answer as well. I'm
assuming you mean "will the External CF Drive work with the Focus controller
due to the fact that it has the "high density" laptop/2.5" formfactor IDE
port on it"? The short answer is "Yes, it will". The long answer is: It
will but you will need a "44 pin to 40 pin IDE converter" which will be
available in the Store shortly. You could still purchase an External CF
Drive now and purchase the converter elsewhere if you're in a rush. Sorry
about my mistake/not being as clear as I could in the last post.
Hey BLuRry.
I'm not quite sure how the Vulcan Drive Controller works actually. I have
one here and I need to do a little more experimenting with it. I know I
have read that they will support DOS 3.3 natively which is what caught my
eye. I'm just not too sure how the Drive Table works yet. I should be able
to get around to that little project shortly. I've even seen one with a CF
adaptor on it, so I know they will work. My card has 'VLGL2.0GS' written on
the ROM. I assume it's for a IIgs machine? Anyone with experience or other
info about the Vulcan please feel free to email me. I'll add it to my notes
in preparation for that project. Next time I'm over Bill's place I'll be
asking a few questions in person about what he knows about his controller.
I think he has one that works in a II+. Looking at mine it should be pretty
easy to clone, if it's worth it.
Hi Marcus.
Yes, the LED's do work. The Power LED is ON when the Drive is ON. The
Access LED blinks when the CF card is being accessed. It's a nice feature
to see it blink instead of guessing when the computer is doing something.
Batteries have been selling well too. Now I just need to have the
International Shipping module fixed so users outside the USA can place
orders and receive proper shipping quotes in stead of error messages.
Thanks.
