I imagine you already know about the "hot chassis" problem: in most
TVs that weren't designed with baseband video in and out connectors,
the chassis is not isolated from the AC line. To add baseband video
input (composite or RGB), you'll either need to add an isolation
transformer, or electricaly isolate the video inputs.
Yes, when I was 16, my first job was working for a Radio & TV
repair shop. I learned about hot chassis both theoretically and
practically. ;-)
I was somewhat surprised to see in the service manual for my KV-1380
that Sony used an optoisolator for the video input. Back when the
set was made, optoisolators that could handle a composite video
signal (e.g., suitable bandwidth and linearity) were not readily
available.
I may use the same approach, if it turns out to be a hot chassis
design.
