I also have a beige G3. I installed XPostfacto on it hoping to update the
OS to something greater than 10.2. As the web page said it didn't like the
internal video. So I threw in an old PC ATI Rage II card. No video there
either. I'm starting to have some free blocks of time coming up so I can
do a bit of work on the G3 and try duplicating what you've done (except my
card is older). After talking with a number of people I found out I should
have installed the video drivers (if they can be found) first. I should be
able to start working on it on Wednesday.

Just to save some time in hunting around... Have you come across a Rage
II driver? Under Linux the Rage II will accept the Radeon driver. Is there
a way to uninstall XPostfacto without access to video or is a
reinstallation in order? Since this card has both a composite out (no
S-Video) and a single PC monitor out, I wonder if it is possible to get a
multi-head output going (Apple// monitor and PC monitor)...
