Anything specific you don't like about Kegs. The last version had built in setup which greatly improved it's usability. There is also an older Win32 specific version with a toolbar interface. XGS, well it's simply an unfinished project which had good possibilities.
As Paul mentioned in his reply, you can use 800k images with Apple Oasis. I use slot 5 as an HD card and only 800k images connected. IIRC, mixing disk sizes didn't work very well.
