The fourth card is a 80col+ card but it has a switch on it. Someone wrote on a tape saying 'Hi Res' and 'Double Res'. Does this switch do any thing?
The switch was obviously mounted insted of the jumper usually found on this type of card. What it does is this: the earliest IIe mainboard revision (Rev. A) lacked the ability to do double-hires. When you use the card on these boards you have to turn double-res OFF as otherwise the computer won't even start, IIRC. On all the later IIe revisions, you want to turn it ON and thus enable double-hires mode. Some games (e.g. Legend of Blacksilver) and a few other programs can make use of this mode, in which all of the 16 low-res colors are available at hi-res resolution on a color monitor; or you can get a horizontally doubled hi-res resolution (560x192) on a monochrome monitor.
Can't help you with the others, sorry. -- Linards Ticmanis
