Most modern implementations will assume the existence of an FPU.  When
the Pentium was introduced it became much better to do things in FP.

Mostly you need quick & dirty multiply, divide, and line draw, and you
need to figure out how to do those things as few times and with as few
bits of precision as possible.

The Arc3D stuff used 128K of memory for a multiplication lookup table.
Not really an option on the //e.
