I see. Apple II's must grow on trees in the land of the free. ;-)

Well, sorta - there were millions of them made, put in schools and bought for the home, etc. And for a long time, people have been disposing of them or giving them away to others - cheap or for free because people thought they were old, obsolete, incompatible. It's still easy to find a basic Apple II setup here.

Finding them with premium parts is a little harder. Finding them new, a bit harder yet. But now and then, someone somewhere opens up a storage closet at some school and finds that spare machine that was never taken out of the box... and it usually gets auctioned off.

At one time, I had over 100 GS, 40, IIe and so many drives and other parts stored in my garage, I didn't bother counting them. My garage had become a warehouse and my wife was pretty upset about it. So, thanks to some of the KFest people, who hauled off some of the gear - I was able to downsize.

I used to be "that guy that rescues Apple II computers" in the area. Not so much anymore because I still have too many.
