Re: Replacing a ROM01 IIgs Battery

One 'trick' is to get a holder from Radio Shack and use 4 AA cells. Cut
the old & attach the new with clips. Works. Replacement costs are small
and readily available.
Four cells is too many. That delivers 6v with alkalines, and will
cause the clock to run from battery power even when the IIgs is on.
Three cells is the right number, for 4.5v.
My last Lithium cell failed after only a couple of years. It cost
something like $6-8 before shipping.
You bought an "old stock" lithium cell. It should last 5-10 years
easily.

How does one go about replacing the battery in a ROM 01 IIgs? Looks
like I'm going to have to desolder it (which makes me REALLY nervous).
Also, where can I actually get a new battery?
