Nope, according to Open Apple V3N1 (February 1987) in the article
"Apple Introduces an Updated IIe", paragraph 3 says...

"In addition to the visible changes on the exterior of the computer,
the machine uses a revised motherboard that Apple has been actually
been putting in new IIes since October."

So...that's a "yep" the way I read it.

Late model //e's, Platinum and otherwise, shipped with the revised
(low-bandwidth pushbutton) motherboard.
