"I'm not saying this is the best way to go about this, but have you
looked at Synchonet? http://www.synchro.net"
I looked at Synchronet. There are two versions, and each has problems
for this application.
The current version is a true Windows project. Unfortunately, its
documentation says it ONLY works via telnet. In other words, it doesn't
monitor the serial port or interact with modems. If you know this to be
untrue, please let me know.
The last version that worked with modems was version 2.3, which has a
copyright date of 1999 (!). It is a DOS and OS/2 (!) software package
that will run in Windows XP. Unfortunately, while I can see that IT
sees my typing "ATA" and "RING" on the Apple, it refuses to acutally
"pick up" the serial line as if someone was dialing in. I'm going to
keep trying at it, since it looks very nice and more evolved than Lora
BBS. Again, if you have more details about how to make it work for this
application, please let us know.
