I seem to remember the Astec brand powersupply being favourable,
in that they were more reliable and less prone to failure. I can't tell you
if there is any basis for this being fact or not, it's just what I remember
from past discussions.
I can tell you that Apple recalled DynaComp supplies in some early
IIgs ROM 3 machines. As a matter of fact I had my DynaComp supply
spontaneously die less than a year after receiving a brand-new ROM 3.
It cost me $120 (plus returning the failed unit) only to later discover it
should have been covered by warranty. It was too late to complain
by then unfortunately.
