Traditionally on the Internet a filename extension of .bin means it's a
MacBinary encoded file. This puts the data fork, resource fork and file
system data into one file which can then be safely transferred to a non-
Mac file system e.g. an FTP server. Almost all Mac telecommunication
programs, including FTP clients and web browsers, will automatically
restore the file to it's original state after they download it, and it
sounds like TransMac did the same thing when it copied the file to a Mac
disk.
