after some investigation it appears to be that there is some bit twiddling
going wrong in the reading, its more than likely a bug in my cpu core (oh
well, i'll fix it) many of the bytes end up with their LSB incorrect, for
some reason, i'm still tracking down the place where it happens, no clue
yet.
