Re: what variation of mk4096 4k rams work in an Apple II.

Yeh, I can remember the first night I had it, getting the machine home and starting to type in some program and running out of memory!

I remember expanding to 36K total memory cost a couple of hundred dollars, mail order.

Oh, I suppose I could just change the jumpers on with 16k memories, and I expect it would have a good chance of running as a 4k machine, but it wouldn't be the same.

Also I'm finding out that a lot of these obsolete parts distributers want to deal with only corporations, not individuals.

I found a online company (www.axiselectronics.com) that sells obsolete parts and it lists a number of different versions of MOSTEK MK4096. Anyone know which ones might work in an Apple II? Here is some of the variations listed.

MK4096K-11
MK4096N-11
MK4096N-15
MK4096K-15
MK4096N-16
MK4096P-17
MK4096N-18

Wow, 4K DRAMs--talk about a blast from the past!

I'd be thinking about adapting 16K DRAMs to do the job.
