While it may be the power supply, you may want to try pushing loose
chips back into their sockets, particularly on the memory card. The
CPU is another chip that can come loose.

Try running it without the lid on as well, to see if it might be a heat
problem.

I've run a GS on an AT powersupply for years. Disadvantages are having
a silver brick itting beside your GS. Advantage is that the heat isn't
being dumped inside the GS case.
Try reseating your socketed chips first.
