i have gotten for kicks? the following:
A Xebec S1410 Loop Back Tester ..this i believe is a test board for use with
Sider/Xebec/First Class Peripherals/Datamac/Trustor sider type brand
SASI/MFM hard drives..
here is the link
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4193&item=5221105929
as you can see from the auction it was taken out of the Xebec Plant (closed)
in Nevada that built siders/xebecs etc..i've no idea what it does..
i looks like you hitch the hard drive up to it via the cable points..power
it up and a nice little digital number counter chips in bottom corner lite
up with numbers
and it has like 8 or so micro mini switches on it ..and a reset switch...if
nothing else figured it looked pretty cool..(i like gizmos that light up and
have switches)
anyway..if anyone can point me to some generic book on what a loop back
tester tests..and or used to use one...or find the (gasp!) actual manual
someplace i'd appreciate it...
at the very least i can mount it in a nice little glass frame and hang it on
a wall....
a link to a standard s1410 5.25 inch disk controller is below...the card
that runs the sider itself inside the case..has a brief description of what
it does etc
picture...and the like
http://www.swtpc.com/mholley/SASI/XEBEC.htm
maybe just hitch one up and watch the little lites go on? switch a switch
watch eproms burn?...
here is a further schematic of the s1410 board (not the loop back
tester..but i assume it is what i use to test a hd in place of)

anyway anyone ever use one of these beasts?>>>>have instructions...general
ideas..otherwise it becomes wall art

(heh..also scam'd a partial sider unit from same guy....got a front panel
(to replace one of my siders that has one broken) and a power supply that
seems to work when i tested it with a hd...for a sider with a blown unit..so
i'm 2 out of 3 anyway....)
