comp.sys.mac.system would probably be most appropriate. There's still
plenty of people in there who have or had older Macs.

What exactly happens when you try to use a disk formatted on the newer
Mac? I assume you have other disks which do work OK? Have you tried
cleaning the disk heads with a floppy drive cleaner?
