This has always been a mystery, but does anyone know just WHY the Apple
IIgs's 5 1/4 drive -- the newer, daisy-chainable platinum-colored ones
-- made that godawful racket upon bootup? I refer, of course, to the
incredibly loud "CHUCK-CHUCK-CHUCK-CHUCK-CHUCK" on bootup and the
"BRRRRAAAAAP" sound when GS/OS checks if there's anything in the drive.
It always freaked me out as a kid.
