Yes I have the special Applecolor/RGB 80 Column card.

Is there a way to override this?  I'd really like to use the RGB
monitor since the picture is nice, but I worry that I'm going to run
into this problem alot.  I'll have to check my other double hi-res
games to see if this happens.  Does anyone have experience with these
monitors?  I couldn't find much information out there about them.

I'm pretty sure it's running in Mode 2 since the entire screen was
monochrome.
