That's the normal appearance of an Apple II composite signal
when viewed on a monitor with 3-4 horizontal pixels for every
Apple pixel.

If you have a "picture-in-picture" mode, and can condense the
Apple II "raster" to about 1/4 the monitor's screen size, it
will look just like you remember.  ;-)

If you've ever seen regular video displayed on a 1280x1024
LCD monitor, it looks pretty fuzzy, too!
