Hi Vince and EdActually I understand (and this may not be totally accurate) the original Apple ][ and some of the earlier (maybe all?)II+'s have the synertek 6502 (1MHz part) . Later Apple machines (possibly) and most clones used the Rockwell (and others) 6502A (2Mhz part).
I have an apple II+ on loan from Tim and I could *not* get it to work. After reading this technote page
>http://web.pdx.edu/~heiss/technotes/aiie/tn.aiie.04.htmlpointed out to me by Rich Dreher, I got the idea to try swiching a Rockwell 6502A from a Decider clone I have to the Apple II. Worked like a charm.
So that is why I specify a 6502A or later as a minium requirement for the card.
Now that doesn't help folks who want to keep their early Apple II "cherry" ... but it is a work around that can be reversed easily later on :)
Glenn ps thanks for the compliment :O)
