Wrong.  Emulators should be written to decode .SHK disks on the fly
instead (if you're going to make statements like that).

The ShrinkIt archival system had been around for years before anyone
even thought about writing an Apple II emulator.  Its the definitive
standard for the compression and archival of disks, volumes, and
individual files for use on >REAL< Apple II's.  As soon as you limit
libraries to DSK and NIB only, you start to really isolate people who
want to have a complete Apple II experience.  Its a lot easier to open
a SHK file on an emulator than it is to open a DSK or NIB file on a
real Apple II.

1) Copy the SHK file to a ProDOS volume containing ShrinkIt in your
emulator
2) Run ShrinkIt and unpack the file
3) Run the program
