In this case, "LISA" was an acronym = Laser Interactive Systems' 
Assembler. 

It wasn't a bad assembler, by any stretch, but alongside Merlin-PRO or 
ORCA and simiar "macro" assemblers, it was a bit of a clunker, 
feature-wise. Its main "feature" as far as I was concerned when using it 
was that it was *FAST*, and set up to work ALMOST like a BASIC 
interpreter - It assembled as you typed your source, letting you see 
your mnemonics turned into object bytes almost as quickly as you typed 
them.
