Apparently some of the new drives will automatically eat themselves if you have questionable softwares on them... The drive started BEEPING, I called the manufacturer, and they told me that there is no beeper or speaker in the drive.It still beeps when I power it on..Rich
Questionable software? You mean like if you run low level utils on the drive that the MFG doesnt like? I had drive once that made a 'alarm sound'. For a while i thought it was the laptop itsself crying for help.. Turned out it was just the bearings in the drive. Really bizzare noise.
