Re: "Asimov" appears to be down! :(
Hello there.
I'm a newbie to this newsgroup. The archive did go down earlier when I was
downloading stuff. I also am in the process of downloading the entire
archive, bar the emulators. I use AppleWin, which I find has a simple
interface and is easy to use, though I'm sure there are other good ones out
there which I must investigate). I did think about making enquiries about
buying a CD or DVD with the entire archive on (I'm using a 56K modem,
sigh...) but I'm well over halfway through now so it hardly seems worth it.
My tiny hard-drive is filling up rapidly! My intention, when I have
completed downloading the archive, is to burn it onto CD-ROM for backup and
space-saving purposes. I've only recently discovered the Apple II and love
it, now I've got used to the funny coloured lettering! Growing up in the UK
and being more familiar with computers like the Sinclair Spectrum and Acorn
BBC Micro I didn't get much opportunity to play around with Apple IIs,
though I always thought they looked great, like what I imagined a PROPER
computer to look like; and I knew it had a big software base due to it's
success in America and elsewhere. Eventually when I have the space I'd like
to buy a real Apple II, there must be loads around still. That would be
cool. They always looked like they were quite hardy and built to last. Big
thanks anyway to maintainers of Asimov FTP site.
By the way, are we talking Asimov as in Isaac? Was he an Apple II head??
