side note on this and my prev posts...now if the guy who bought the
prototype apple mfg eithernet card with drivers etc off
ebay for $300 bucks or so wants to contribute to this discussion i'm
sure
the lance eithernet card and others on here would love
to discuss some stuff with him....as far as i know the only people who
ever
What do you want to know?
well..if we are talking about the apple // brand ethernet card...i assume
there are drivers software instructions for the beast...has anyone forwarded
any of that stuff to the lance ethernet developers...whomever they may
be...maybe they could get some ideas...ideally a clone of such a beast
would be nice *HEY...it is abandonware right....but unlikely to be able to
be done i guess
Actually, I would expect very little software to be written for an
unreleased card--and certainly no software relevant to modern
networking.
And the hardware design for the Apple card would be hopelessly
out of date considering the ethernet chips available today.
as for digicard i have a more or less complete setup hardware wise...as well
as what i think i need for mastery development (and i need to chase down
mastery dev disks) but for the digicard i need a mandrake install disk
and/or the trick on getting such an install disk made off a hd which
supposedly has the mastery development on it..of course ...that could be
hard w/o the network actually up..(chicken and egg sorta thing)
(it would be a lot easier on us here if someone just got the old tcp/ip and
lance gs card to do what we all dream it could do...then i'd just buy it and
chuck the rest...sigh)
Ah, but it's never the hardware that does anything interesting--
only the _software_.
brad..
(confused about apple // networking...only heard about it never really saw
it back in the day)
