Fresh fruit

Used a mac( dual g4 i think) for about 3 days when i was on work experience. 
but never been able to afford one. Been using windows since i was 10, but 
i'm going to university in a few months and i was planning on buying a 12" 
ibook g4(or a the latest version if it comes out anytime soon). So could 
someone please tell me why i should enter the preverbial "white garden". 
plus, minus of the os, hardware etc. Basically i want someone to "sell me" 
on macs, lol.
