Actually, I wrote a virus for the Apple II back about 1986.
Accidentally.  I was trying to write a menu/utility HELLO program
(called HOWDY) that would overwrite older versions of itself so I
wouldn't have to keep manually copying it to all my assorted boot
floppies every time I updated it.  I was a little lax in some of my
condition checking.  As a result, it would overwrite the first file
found on pretty much any floppy put in the drive.  Much to my friends'
dismay.
