: Hi all,
:
: How common is it for an Apple IIGS serial port to be dead? I tried
: hooking up a null cable assembly to a PC, and no matter what settings I
: tried (and I did ensure that settings lined up correctly betwen PC and
: GS), I couldn't get the machines to communicate. I'm using a WinXP PC
: with HyperTerminal.
:
: For what it's worth, I'm blaming the cable assembly at this point. I
: purchased the following cables and hooked them up together:
:
: Apple serial adapter, with 8-DIN male and DB-9 female connectors
: gender changer, with DB-9 male connectors, and
: null modem cable, with DB-9 female connectors.
:
: I tried omitting the gender changed and null modem cable and things
: still didn't work.
: Any ideas?
Your info is incomplete. You didn't mention if the ports were set in
control panel or on "your card". Also, you haven't said which comm
program you are using on the Apple IIgs. There are quite a few variables
missing here.
