_most_ people can't tell the diff between CD and 128K... my hearing's
not quite 20-20* but I'm one of the unfortunate few who can actually
hear a substantial difference between CD and even high quality mp3s...
(and I'm 37 and have played in some rather loud rock bands!) To me, 128K
sounds very close to a commercially duped tape; 192K sounds like a good
homemade tape and 256K sounds close, but not quite CD quality. That
being said, I regularly encode my sample mp3s at 48K just to keep the
files small, which sounds very much like good shortwave reception.
