I don't have any versions of GS/OS or System Utilities on this system.
I understand that disk images for these operating systems are
available, but getting them onto an 800k floppy is nearly impossible
without an already complete setup in place.
I have concluded that I will need to take the following steps with the
setup that I have:
1. Obtain a ProDOS 3.5" disk formatting utility that will also write
the boot sectors.
2. If necessary, uncompress the formatting utility using nulib on a
Windows PC (or some other host).
3. Transfer the contents of the formatting utility to the Apple IIGS
using a serial adapter and a null modem cable.
4. BSAVE the formatting utility to a file on the 5.25" disk.
5. Launch the formatting utility to format the 3.5" disk.
6. Transfer the latest PRODOS and BASIC.SYSTEM to the Apple IIGS and
BSAVE them onto the 3.5" disk.
7. Hope that the 3.5" disk will boot. :)
I can accomplish all these steps, but I need a 3.5" ProDOS disk
formatting utility that I can easily transfer to the IIGS. Can I
download one from somewhere?
