i am using ciderpress (or will be when i find everything...scattered
about)...to archive and move and burn to cd
all of my apple // media...eventually using the mdc
(master disk catalog) program included to keep track of it all
the simple explation of below is that i want a msdos or windows version of
cider press to keep track of all my
bbs data backups etc etc...ideally with some kinda catalog program like mdc
avail...i don't want to sit and
run 1 zip of a disk after another..then another program to add an indv
descrip file and another program for
a title and a 3rd program to to do what mdc does already...and yet another
for sucking in a scsi backup
from another ibm ..you get the drift
long rambling below
now..looking to the future i have a lost of msdos and windows stuff
....drivers...utils...etc for video cards and the like..that i want to keep
because my default www server and such when i did have www.lost-gonzo.com
(still down) up...that was the front end for getting to the apple //gs bbs
systems (tpro 4.2f rpg bbs and fv/metal 4.0xev) from the www page or telnet
in..so be nice to keep that all together and working don't ya know
so anyway..i will eventually want to keep track of all my pc/ms dos based
bbs type stuff ..from old tape backups to driver disks to floppies etc and i
have a ton
of it ...people back in the day were dumping me with there very large
worldgroup systems 60 phone line beasts...because i was a non-profit type
bbs..so
they figured i prob was a good write off when everything tanked and went the
inet route...
i doubt that i can use ciderpress to manipulate these files in the same way
as the apple image files.( i could be wrong hopefully) along with mdc
....that would be a cool additon if you want to open up ciderpress to the pc
world..i'm crossing my fingers...if that is so this msg is just dumb..but i
don't care..just need to know
i assume that is not the case....anyway is there an equivelent program to do
what ciderpress does for making images of disks/tapes or whatever with
ideally a built in mdc kinda setup..so when i move on to my load of bbs
windows related stuff i can do the same organizing as i will do with
ciderpress and mdc and the apple 2 stuff?
just going thru and doing winzip a disk at a time and such....somebody musta
made some kinda catalog program for use with windows/msdos files disks hd
backups etc?..again..
to further clarify..i'd like a stand alone program (ie pc ver of ciderpress)
where i place 3.5" floppy in drive..on my windows machine...i type in title
....on my mucked up disk...(like mdc) i type in disk number (like mdc) it
then gives me an option to make a .doc file or info file and option to lapel
them in .diz (for bbs use) and also make spairs of same file called .doc and
maybe .txt...just to be safe....so i have disk #, title, and my desrip (or
it has a .diz file (bbs info format) that makes that (or my descrip) also
into .txt and .doc file to be added..to this little disk image of my pc disk
labeled 1...so i have a title....the catalog what is on the beast....convert
of the bbs .diz file which is on the disk to 2 more files the same but with
a .doc and .txt ending....so someone looking at the .zip of this disk can
pop up what is on it..after finding the title in say a bbs or ftp file
area?..
viola i hit enter ...chug chug...all stuff is sucked into a .dsk or equiv
ibm such and such...and i eject disk and move on...
again ? maybe i can use cider press with my disk stuff to do this? prob not
anyway what is the msdos or windows equiv of ciderpress....so i can ease my
archive woes? i just want a guick dirty way to insert disk ask for item
number
title...descrip (option) ....chug chug....now nice little archive called
disk1 in zip format with a title to attach to it etc etc
anyway the above is prob clear as mud but ...
anyway...
thanks for the help....

organize all of it ..i should just buy some
pawn shop software would be an easier solution...i do have that much junk!)
