Re: SyQuest SparQ 1.0 GB Drive

I owned one of those. It was more prone to the "click of death" than
the Iomega Zip drives of the time.

What a piece of crap (at least mine was). Disks would get stuck in the
drive, it would whirr up and down trying to load one and give up,
flashing its little pathetic light. Then the disk was unreadable and
you'd lose everything. Sometimes it sounded like a high-pitched buzzsaw
(I could imagine my data getting buzz-sawed, with bits going
everywhere).

Must say the earlier Syquest 200mb drives (with larger cartridges) were
much more stable, Been using one for several years without problems.

And been using a 100mb Zip drive for a couple years without a problem
as well.

Hope it is really cheap.
