Well, all I can tell you is one little trick with the Finder. If you
hold down the Control key while opening a folder, the window that
opens will have the default Finder size (which looks like it would
require patching the Finder to change) but will have the same view as
the window the folder was in. So, if you have a window open being
viewed in the View by Name view, Control opening a folder in that
window will open another window in the View by Name view.
