Re: Comming Soon WACOS

I did not think anyone still held any copyright to this, or cared
about it. This whole project was a hobby that's been worked on for a
few years now. Some stuff still doesn't work well with it. This
began years ago, was forgotten about, then recently worked on again.
Its just a little hobby, and never meant to make profit on anything.

I just have a few questions. Is there any profit to be made on
GBBS/ACOS now? Where is this PC port? Are you still supporting GBBS?

I could go on with more questions, but after thinking about
this, it seems pointless. This was just a little project that started
when I was learning VB. Years ago I used Acos. The actual BBS
segment code was tossed, and me and some guys wrote a package 100%
from scratch. We even had ACOS using a mouse over the phone lines,
which was real cool at the time I guess.

I thought of this project almost like an emulation project to
preserve Acos, and maybe add some other features, and perhaps someone
would find a use for this. I think its silly to even think someone
would even use it now.

This is like an emulator for an Apple, Amiga or a Atari 2600.
Its nice to look at for about 1-2 hours and remember the old days,
then its deleted off the hard drive. I ask why not just release the
source code to ACOS as freeware. What profit could be made of this
now?

I would be amazed it this had any significant financial
meaning to anyone at this point. I checked all over, and could not
find anything on ACOS/GBBS on the net, and not even samples or home
made segments. I found the old stuff I did in some old boxes when I
moved and just ported it to this little project.

I must say after finding out someone still owns a copyright,
WACOS will stay with me as a hobby, and never see the light of day.
However, I must say after all this time, I can't imagine this being a
source of income and would have bet money it was free-ware by now.

Alot of the things mentioned in the prior post work, but are
very buggy. Proterm Special emulation is a nightmare, and is a real
ugly emulation, I'm sure someone could do better since creating fonts
doesn't work for me. There was also an idea for using a card-swipe
system via telnet to logon. Which never worked at all, and was
written by a friend who doesn't care to do anymore on WACOS.

Unless Steve doesn't care if the source to my code is released
for free, without any segments from the original GBBS/ACOS package, or
if he ever wanted to sell or release Acos as free-ware, this project
will remain with me, and only me. This was really meant to be a
learning project to teach me VB, and nothing more.

Oh Well......
