Apple Powerbook G3 Pismo(firewire) died. Please help me bring it back from the dead!

Hi,

I just returned back from a trip and we forgot to turn her PowererBook off
before she put it in her bag. After a couple of days being home I went to
pull her PB out and I noticed it was pretty hot. Yikes!

Now it wont power up/boot no matter what I do. No typicall start up sounds
or screen flicker or anything (hard drive spinning etc.)

The only sign that its getting power is when I turn it on (pressing power
button as usual) I can turn the num lock and caps lock lights on/off when I
press the respective keys. If I hold down the power button, to power down
the unit the lights will go out after holding the power button down for 3-5
seconds seeming normal.

In fact if I put the batteries in the powerbook without pressing the power
button the computer just
I have tried:

1) resetting the power manager several times

2) pulling all the batteries/adapter including the pram battery, letting it
sit a couple hours before trying to restart it.

3) inspecting under the keyoard for anything suspect.

Nothing seems to help it boot.

Has anybody come across this before or does this sound typical of something
failing?

Any help would be great before I take it into a shop. I would prefer to
diagnose and fix this myself if I can figure out what component is dead.

Thanks,

Michael
