It sounds like everything is working except the video. (I assume
that you've already tried another RCA cable. ;-)
It is unusual for anything to go wrong with the video amplifier.
Exceptions might be bigtime ESD ("zap") when plugging in
the video cable. This, too, would be unusual, and would
typically result only from shuffling across a room in winter
carrying an unconnected video cable, then making first
contact with the center conductor to the inside of the monitor's
video connector. ;-)
It's much more likely that there is a problem with the video
connector on the monitor. It would be easy to verify visually
if you open the monitor. After powering it down and waiting
an hour or two you can proceed, being careful around the
hi-voltage lead to the CRT. Look at the backside of the video
connector and verify that both wires (or shield and center wire)
are properly connected to the corresponding connector tabs.
Also verify that the other ends of this cable are properly
connected to the monitor's PC board.
Fixing a broken connection involves soldering with a
small iron and rosen core solder. If you are not confident,
then you need someone's help.
If it isn't obvious what's disconnected, then the problem
is an electronic failure in the video amplifier (part of which
may be plugged onto the back of the CRT), and you will
need a technician's help.
