Re: Apple IIgs AppleTalk and CD-ROM questions

Heya. As for the CD, I know that 1-2x is about as fast as the IIGS can process the data. Anything other than that is overkill. I read somewhere that the most reliable CD ROMs are the 1-2xers and there were some recommended brands as well. I'd like to say that Sony was among them, but I've since forgotten.

Hmm... the 540 MB hard disk I've got connected should be transferring data a lot faster than a 12X CD-ROM. I've got an old CD-300i that I could stick in the case (lack of a volume knob or headphone jack isn't a problem) and give it a try.

As for networking, I can tell you what does work.... (drum roll)

I've got one of these puppies and I can FTP, appletalk, and telnet with ease. I know there's a lot more you can do, but those are my areas of interest. The card and a standard ethernet cable and you're in business.

Wish I could afford one :)... but student loans have to go to food first!
