Jayson, I don't have the answer to the question you asked, but I
wonder if you have tried Program Writer for editing Applesoft
programs. It is a screen-oriented editor with Appleworks-like
editing, and I find it very convenient (especially the version that
tucks away in the "language card" area of memory).
It stays out of the way and is easily (re-)entered by typing
&&<return> for editing, resequencing, searching, listing
variables, etc.
