I am currently running the Prodos version for the II+ (I believe it is
Prodos 8); which version are you running, and is there a compatibility
issue with other versions?
You have a Hard Drive on your II+? How would I go about doing such a
Mod? I know of the IDE/ATA adaptor from S. Guillard
(http://s.guillard.free.fr/Apple2IDE/Apple2IDE.htm). Does Prodos
immediately recognise the drive: I see that he does not have a ROM
chip in the schematics, do I need to write some ML code to access it?
I'm using Squirt as a program launcher and since I usually use a
TransWarp accelerator, I can use ProDOS 2.0.3. I really prefer
2.0.3 over 1.9 but the odd time I disabled the accelerator I'd only
be able to use 1.9 and earlier. So I solved the problem by replacing
the 6502 with a R65C02.
I'm using a Rev C SCSI card with a regular hard drive and a CD150.
There's a few other choices, the Sider, an Apple Hi-Speed SCSI card
will work if you switch DMA off. The still available CFFA card.
The CFFA might be the best choice. There's a few other drive options
but they're harder to find.
I'm using a 40mb hard drive with two 20mb partitions. ProDOS works well
and Squirt lets me choose a program to run from the hard drive or the
5.25 or 3.5" floppy drives.
