The Farallon PN842-1 Etherwave Printer Adapter I have is meant for
hooking up a LocalTalk printer to an Ethernet network.  All I had to do
was plug it into my IIgs (modem or printer port), set slot 7 to "your
card", and enable the appletalk/appleshare drivers in the system folder.
It's much faster than using the serial ports as serial ports (238Kbits,
for 18.5 KB/sec measured throughput).
